I'm going to talk about famous cases in higher education, Influenza A (H1N1). Due to the spreading infected cases in higher education few weeks ago, many Universities and private colleges in Malaysia have been closed for 1 week or more. Unlike other universities or colleges, There are the H1N1 cases in my university but it has not been closed. However, all students are recommended to wear face mask given during teaching and learning processess. I think, it is important about how colleges or universities should prevent H1N1 outbreaks in the same time to keep universities or colleges to open as much as can to keep students learning. According to secretary of health and human services, note that, "higher education students are vulnerable to this kind of virus."

Due to the risk may faced by students, there are some prevention tips i should share to all readers. First, promote the "self isolation" of students who have H1N1 or symptoms, encouraging them to stay away from classes and other activities and to stay in their rooms or, if they have family members in the area, to travel there (not using public transportation). Second, modify absenteeism policies so both students, faculty members and others who are ill have no incentive to return to campus activities earlier than they should. Doctor's notes are require for excuse absences from class or work. Cleaners also play important roles in H1N1 prevention where they must encourage more cleanliness on campus both by adding cleaning schedules in bathrooms, doorknobs, shared keyboards and so on.

For students in higher education, there are the warning signs that need urgent medical attention including difficult breathing or shortness of breath, pain or pressure in chest or abdomen, sudden dizziness, confusion, severe or persistent vomiting, and flu-like symptom improve but then return with fever and worse cough.

In my personal view, it is not easy to make all students follow the rules in H1N1 prevention. Just like in my university campus, most of the students are not wearing face masks as what has recommended by government. Since the cases of H1N1 in higher education is increasing, i think all students, lecturers, and staffs in campus should collaborate to prevent spreading of H1N1.

Lastly, since today is 52 years Malaysia independent day ! I would like to wish all malaysian Happy Merdeka !!!
